My name is Paul Desmarais. I've been performing and teaching guitar for 25 years. I received my Bachelor's Degree in Music Education, with a focus in Jazz Guitar from the Universty of New Hampshire. I also graduated from the United States Army Element School of Music as a guitar player and percussionist. I have attended many military music schools and clinics. I currently teach general music, band, and chorus for the Manchester School District.
In June of this year I retired from the New Hampshire National Guard's 39th Army Band. I spent 23 years in the military band field. I began as a guitarist for the regular army's 19th Army Band, Ft. Dix NJ, and after 3 years transfered to the 39th Army Band. During my service I was the guitarist, rhythm section leader, vocalist, and director of our Jazz Band. I was also the vocalist, arranger, and enlisted conductor of the concert band. I created the 39th Army Band's Rock Band "Granite Rock" where I performed lead guitar, lead and background vocals. I became the Commander and principle conductor of the 39th Army Band in January of 2007 and retired at the rank of Warrant Officer.
I have performed in many orchestras for productions such as Little Shop of Horrors, Grease, Jesus Christ Superstar, Annie, The Sound of Music, Man of La Mancha, Anything Goes, Evita, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolored Dream Coat, West Side Story, Pipin, A Chorus Line, Children of Eden, Godspell, Urin Town, Camelot, La Traviata, The Magic Flute, and various other shows.
Along with singing in my various bands, I have performed the National Anthem for the Manchester Monarchs hockey team and the New Hampshire Fisher Cats and Nashua Pride minor league baseball teams.
